Last week was my birthday (Tanya here) and we took a trip up north for the day on the train. The trip was about 1 ½ hours each way on the LNER. Very comfortable. The ride north had almost nobody in our quiet car. The trip south was more crowded.

(Views from the train)
We went to…..EDINBURGH! It was actually quite crowded there this time of year. Must remind myself not to go in August or September. Last year we went in early May and it was perfect! But the weather was sunny and 71 degrees and it was actually hot walking up and down all those hills.

I got to visit Dean Village, which I missed last year. Gorgeous place right in the middle of the city. Green and calming.

Walked through a few parts of the city we had not seen….to get to a recommended coffee shop (Chapter One) with all vegan treats! And for dinner at another vegan restaurant (Holy Cow):

And more wandering…..Princes Street Gardens and the architecture of the city will always amaze me:

Can't visit Edinburgh without hearing a bagpipe!
