Neighborhood 8: Chester-le-Street
We hopped on a bus south towards Chester-le-Street (bus 21), straight down Durham Road. It was about a 25 minute bus ride from our current home, so, yes, it's a bit far from the center of Newcastle.
It seems like a bustling town! Much larger than where we are now…lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, and a big Tesco grocery store. Very nice-looking town.

Someone decorated the Post box with a knitted Costa Coffee ‘hat’!

We had a nice coffee and treat in the center of town.
Neighborhood 9: Whickham
We had to get on 2 buses to get here, and it was a VERY rainy day. Whickham is small but has some very nice pubs and pretty houses.

High street here is pretty small, but still has a couple of small grocery stores,
a pharmacy, and some pubs and restaurants. There's even a hotel!

Three nice pubs on the high street.

We stopped for lunch in one of the pubs with a vegan menu.
We may head back to the coast to take another look and see if we might like living there.
Stay tuned!
