Tanya and Scott Go to the UK: Part 17 - We're here!

We moved to Low Fell, England! We are renting this beautiful home in a VERY hilly neighborhood.

It's a 3 bedroom, 2 ½ bath house with a modern kitchen (which includes a dishwasher, oven, fridge, washer, and dryer!) and a sunroom (aka ‘conservatory’). Still getting used to the smaller fridge but we can easily get bulky produce any day of the week with a couple of small grocery stores in town plus a nice fruit/veg store….and it's all so cheap!! We can also walk down the hill about 20 minutes to the BIG Sainsbury's (yes, we fell in love with Sainsbury's vegan sandwiches last year when we visited the UK). Unfortunately,  that walk back is all uphill. Luckily, there's yet another pub halfway back up the hill where we can relax with a pint and a vegan mushroom and ale pie :)

You can see I got some staples on day one:

And we have the nicest landlords! They apparently read our blog and brought us Hobgoblin beer and vegan treats!!

Plus they drove me to several grocery stores so I could haul back a large load in a car :) And even drove me out of their way to find REAL pickles for Scott!

The view looking out from the front of our house.

The view from upstairs!

Cool post boxes!

Relaxing in the warm conservatory with coffee, watching the weird birds

Here are some pics taken on our walks around the neighborhood:

This is in town:

Some of the pubs in town:

This one is only a 5 minute walk from the house and they have a vegan ‘steak and ale’ pie!
With a nice dark fruit cider, of course. And a great view if you sit outside.

You'll see this sign in several of the pubs. Read it aloud with a Scottish accent.
Or perhaps a Geordie accent…

Had to try the local cheesecake place since they had some vegan desserts :)

Who spells ‘porridge’ that way????

And finally, we saw this little guy on the neighbor's driveway this morning…..must be building a nest:

Hope you enjoyed the tour of our new neighborhood. We will be visiting many different parts of Newcastle/Gateshead over the next couple of months……stay tuned!
